Kim Webster, Ed. M., is the founder of Own It. She sees incredible potential for positive impact on the world by well-supported, mission-driven leaders. Her approach to leadership development is practice-based, rooted in 20 years of experience in non-profit management and school leadership.
Kim held several leadership positions over 10 years at Playworks, a national non-profit organization focused on advancing social and emotional learning through play. She has also worked at schools in New York City, San Francisco and Boston, managing enrichment programming at Washington Irving High School and holding school administrator roles at both San Francisco Flex Academy and Phoenix Charter Academy. She has a Master's of Education in School Leadership from Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Boston University.
Kim specializes in coaching emerging leaders - an influential and often under-supported cohort. She supports them with real-time coaching on team management challenges, teaches new management tools, and leads them in strategic reflection as they navigate the complexity of being a supervisor. She helps her clients grow into more confident and intentional leaders.
As a consultant and facilitator, she draws from a rich combination of youth development and education principles, leadership practice & adult learning theory. She loves to craft interactive, engaging team experiences that maximize culture-building, learning and impact.

What People Say
The most valuable thing I got out of the workshop was re-centering myself with my 'why,' and reminding myself of my core values. It's so easy to slip further away from them. Really needed this right now with so much tumultuous change in my work life. Super applicable and timely!

I learned a great deal from Kim's coaching sessions. Being new to management, it was a wealth of knowledge and wisdom that I was able to benefit from immediately. I found great value in the frameworks that Kim shared with me around organizational leadership, time management, and building team culture among many others. These frameworks have been the most beneficial in the way I approach my work as a relatively new manager. I have gone from a place where I didn't know what I didn't know to one where I am able to diagnose a situation better and pick a tool that's appropriate for the situation at hand. This has been the biggest shift in how I approach leadership and management, and I have grown considerably in my role since starting my coaching sessions.

The most helpful thing I learned in this workshop was thinking about my leadership values in general and putting time into writing them down. I don't normally do that. It's always helpful to have time set aside through a workshop to reflect on our own motivations and life. It's hard to make time for that with full time jobs and life commitments.

I had the great fortune of experiencing Kim's support and mentorship over the course of a year as I transitioned into a higher leadership position at Playworks. She is dedicated to genuine human connection, and as a result, incredibly gifted at guiding her charges to identify their own strengths and needs. In my time working with Kim, I grew leaps and bounds, both through resources she carefully curated for me, and by her example of leadership. If you're looking to become the most effective and authentic leader you can be, Kim can get you there. She has my highest recommendation.
